Sex Offender Registration

If you are convicted of a sex offense or enter the SSOSA program you will be required to register as a Sex Offender. Sex Offender registration is mandatory in all sex offenses. Sex Offender Registration involves the collection of information about individuals convicted of sex offenses and compiling into a central database. Sex Offenders are ranked as Level 1, 2, or 3 depending upon the severity of the crime and the risk the individual poses to the community. The law enforcement agency where the offender resides will make the leveling determination. In most cases, information about Level 1 sex offenders is not published on the central website but Level 2 and 3 offenders are published to the community and available on the online database. The length of the registration and ability for the requirement to be terminated depend upon the type of crime.
